Automating translation
Language is complex and context-dependent, meaning that one is not in a position to translate a text into a foreign language completely automatically. A qualified technical translator is therefore always required.
One can indeed store translations in a bilingual database of sentences. In the case of technical documentation partial automation is highly feasible, as this often involves working with recurring text passages.
Recurring text passages are recognised by means of the bilingual data bases and can thus automatically be translated in advance. The translator is then concerned with the new content. On average, our customers alter between 10% and 30% of the contents of a new operating manual, which in turn corresponds to the workload of the translator.
